Eternal blends the infinite possibilities of a deep strategy card game with the pace and polish of a modern video game. All gameplay-relevant content is available for free - no money or microtransactions are required to play this award-winning CCG.

Created by Dire Wolf Digital, the game is designed to be a middle ground between Magic: The Gathering and online CCGs like Hearthstone. Its designers include several prominent Magic pros. Gameplay is turn-based and centers around two opponents playing cards with the objective of reducing their opponent's health to zero. The cards players play generate resources which are used to summon units, cast spells, and use attachments. Each turn, the player must play cards until his or her resource pool is empty. Resources are Power and Influence, the former generated by the playing of power cards, the latter accumulated through the effects of other cards.

The gameplay is complemented by an extensive range of modes, including a Practice mode for honing your skills in random matches, ranked and casual matches against other human players on a ladder, a Gauntlet mode against AI opponents, a single-player campaign that follows the adventures of the Scions across an explosive "swords, six-guns and sorcery" world, and multiple constructed formats. The game is frequently updated with new cards, with large sets released several times a year and smaller sets, called campaign or bundle sets, occasionally released in between.

Gold, a currency earned through regular play and as rewards for winning matches and quests, may be used to purchase card packs and access to campaigns and bundle sets. Real-money purchases can also be made for gems, which buy cosmetic items and avatars that have no impact on gameplay.
